Society is urged to raise children based on the foundations of faith while also respecting human rights. This builds all people on good principles with the fear of God, regardless of religion.
Matters of upbringing based on religious foundations are an important area that begins within the family.
Raising our children on the foundations of faith will help them recognize the presence of others and also develop an awareness of understanding their boundaries and how they worship. Moreover, upbringing is a very important foundation for bringing peace to society.
These were stated today, September 27, 2025, by the Chairman of the Human Rights and Good Governance Commission, Mathew Mwaimu (Retired Judge), while delivering a presentation on human rights at the 54th General Meeting of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Tanzania, currently taking place in Kitonga, Msongola Ward, Ilala Municipality, Dar es Salaam City.
He stated that the primary role of the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance is a national oversight institution that manages human rights and good governance issues, but it also serves as a special investigator on matters of good governance.
The Commission was established under the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977 and is also governed by Chapter 391 of the Laws of the country.
Constitutionally and legally, the Commission has been entrusted with the responsibilities of overseeing and protecting human rights and the observance of good governance principles in the United Republic of Tanzania.
This means that the primary role, along with receiving complaints from citizens whose rights have been violated or whose principles of good governance have been breached, is part of its mandate.
"When we talk about the principles of good governance, we are talking about how they are being violated.
There are government leaders or other public institutions who perform their duties by violating those principles, namely human rights and the principles of good governance," said Chairman Mwaimu.
Furthermore, he stated that the right to worship in our country is one of the fundamental human rights protected by the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, as well as other international treaties.
This right to worship is enshrined in Article 19 of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, which grants individuals the freedom to believe, worship, and participate in the religion or faith of their choice without coercion or discrimination, the freedom to change faith, freedom of thought, belief, and conscience, to teach or propagate religion without interference from anyone, and one may do so alone, in private, or with others as was the case in this ongoing meeting from yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
I am pleased that the activities carried out by this Community to promote peace, love, and cooperation everywhere encourage respect for the rule of law across all religions, promote good manners and values through the teachings of Islam, and provide community services such as water and education, all related to protection and consideration of human rights.
However, he said that there have been challenges caused by human rights violations, which fundamentally stem from people's different natures and their reluctance to respect each other and uphold the principles of life.
"When people have greater thoughts or opinions than others, it creates situations that may lead one person to violate another person's rights without a valid reason. Everyone must ensure they understand their boundaries, and if you notice a tendency towards causing conflict, you should step back. First, you must put your God first; there is no reason for you to go and violate another person's rights," he said.
Meanwhile, the Police Spokesperson, DCP David Misime, has urged religious leaders of all Muslims gathered at the 54th meeting to educate each other on the importance of using social media responsibly. He noted that there are things we witness on social media nowadays that should not be spoken, written, or shared by anyone who has true teachings from Almighty God, whether they are Muslims or Christians.
Once you have read the Quran and understood it, you cannot speak, write, or disseminate words that are contrary on social media.
He emphasized observing their youth and advising them on the best ways to use social media. Using it properly benefits you and can lead to a better life because it provides various knowledge and can also help you develop economically by promoting your business, farming, or anything else that gives you worldly knowledge.
He also said that as the Ahmadiyya community continues their meeting, they should continue to pray for Taiafa to be able to hold its elections in peace, tranquility, love and security so that after the elections, the nation will continue to remain safe, peaceful, calm, love, security and solidarity.
Also to continue to scold and teach each other within the family about following the Laws related to elections so that then we don't get to the point where we are left with the Law,if we don't follow the Law it grows is not a good thing, but I have also told you the importance of keeping the peace because if you don't take care of even what little you have that you have little you will not be able to get it out of hand because you will be an internal refugee or an external refugee", said Misime
