51 reckless drivers have their licenses revoked

The Nationa Traffic Police  Commander , has said that in continuing to protect the lives of citizens and their property through the roads, for a period of three months has revoked the licenses of 51 drivers due to speeding.

This was stated today by SACP Wilbroad Mutafungwa Road Safety Commander  in celebration of the United Nations Road Safety Day organized by the Auto Mobile Association and FIA in Dar es Salaam.

He said the drivers will have to be re-trained and when they meet the criteria they will be allowed to continue their work and also another step the Army is to warn them, take them to court and when they are found guilty they are fined and others imprisoned.

Mutafungwa said the Police force  will continue to work with the AAT and the FIA ​​and prioritize the plan to drive 30 kilometers per hour in school and residential areas and that it will place it in the relevant authorities such as TARUA and TANROAD , so that it can be implemented without affecting their regulations  and laws.

In another step Mutafungwa has asked the drivers (Boda boda) Motorcycles all the time on the road to adhere to the rules and regulations of road use.

"My brothers and sisters, we all use the roads here in Dar es Salaam, we see boda boda who do not follow the law, they pass even if the Traffic  lights to guide the cars are red without stopping," he said.

For his part, the president of Auto mobile Nizar Jivan has urged students to be careful when crossing the road and to see if there is any danger to cross to avoid the possible harm caused by careless drivers.

"These students are our future if we do not teach them something that will cure your life it will be very difficult for you to live safely. Every human life is important and the FIA ​​has provided a sum of money to educate all people on the importance of drivers' speed.

He also said that for the past five years AAT has provided training to drivers.

Also said ,The Auto mobile Association Providede free training in riding to 5000  Bodaboda riders ,trained 2565 Teachers in Darb es salaam in 123 on road safety  signs,AAT with Collaboration  with FIA  donated 850 crash helmets  with the UN Homologated and TBS  aproved  and trained Boda boda on importance of wearing crash Helmets, AAT/FIA anda Michelin  have trained 985 driver from  diferent institutions.

AAT chief executive Yusuf  Ghor has asked  SACP Wilbroad Mutafungwa to look into the possibility of slowing down 30 kilometers per hour in highway areas in school areas.

 as there is a risk for children crossing the road where he said a total of 2,503 complaints from nine schools in Ilala city have been submitted by students.
