DEFENSIVE DRIVER TRAINING OFFICIALLY BEGINS TODAY IN DAR ES SALAAM.

 Defensive  driver training training officially started today in Dar es Salaam.

 The training was organized by the Auto Mobile Association in collaboration with FIA International and involves various transportation companies where more than 600 drivers will benefit from the training.

 Speaking at the inauguration, Deus Sokoni, Superintendent of Police Road Safety Unit, said that the training of drivers should be continuous for three months and started with two companies whiis  Simba Logistics and Transcargo.

 He said the training will remind drivers of the importance of respecting road safety laws and protecting the lives of all road users by recognizing that they too can be passengers or pedestrians.

 "We are teaching them the Laws of the Car, the Insurance Laws, the Safety and Fire Laws. With this education, we believe that accidents will be significantly reduced and the main goal is to see Tanzania have proper road use " He said.

 For his part, AAT Instructor Mr. Samweli Mkuhili,  said there is a great need to provide this training as it comes at a time when the road has not been a safe place due to many drivers not having enough understanding of road safety laws.

 He said, in collaboration with the Police, the Road Safety Unit has decided to conduct the training to help and save lives of the Tanzania society.

And some of the drivers who attended the training have asked the community to respect and obey the law when they are on the road as cars are not trustworthy especially Trucks, as they can not break a sudden break due to its systems were designed.

 Finally they said the training is of great benefit to them as it reminds them of safety rules where when they return to work they will put in use for their benefit and other road users.

 The training will continue Weekly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from today October 13 to 9 October 2020. For Drivers of Trans Cargo LTD, Simba Logistics, ASAS LTD, LAKE OIL, EAST AFRICA INT SCHOOL, GOODSAMARITAN SCHOOL DSM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL  MECK ONE, UDART -BRT, CROS BORDER, BUMBLEE -ALL SCHOOL BUSES.
