Institutions and organizations are asked to help contribute to road safety education

Dar es salaam Deputy Lord Mayor Saady Khimji ,has called on organizations, institutions and businesses to  help strengthen , increase capacity by funding and providing support to the Police Force  Traffic Unity on providing road safety  education .

Deputy Mayor Khimji made the call at an event organized by the Auto mobile Association and FIA for the closing of the  assessment project held in Dar es Salaam.

He said the AAT has been instrumental in reducing road accidents in the country in collaboration with the Police Force on road safety.

"I am very relieved to be one of the people who have been involved in this, I continue to emphasize that our security wherever you are is under the Government through various agencies and institutions that provide support then let us give full cooperation to the Police Force," he said.

He also promised to monitor the budget set by the City of Dar es Salaam so that it can assist in violating road safety matters as intended.

For his part, AAT President Nizar Jivani, said the project has helped about ten thousand children where they have provided education to eleven schools and now the children have a great understanding of road issues.

"They say the accident has no prevention but I say no, the accident prevents it if you are careful ,you can save your life along with other road users," he said.

He said Tanzania is huge so he has alled other stakeholders to help and has reiterated his request for Traffic for each Moter cycle (Boda boda)  to be painted to show they are coming out so that it is easier to identify the cause of the accident.

"Our goal as FIA and AAT is to reduce accidents by 50 percent by 2030, but I see bodabodas still being left to do what they want I do not know who has slipped or traffic or officials, we want this to be controlled quickly"

And the AAT,  CEO   Najma Rashid , said Road accidents have been the leading cause of dealth and injuries  for many countries ,including Tanzania .AAT /FIA  main objects is  have to safer roads for all the general population  especially Children .

They are on mission to promote more awereness on road safety  and with support of  Tanzania Police foce, Traffic Unity and stakeholder the coplet  school Assessment Project.

''On this project we had to the opportunity to impriment  road safety signson the roads especially on school zones''She said .

Also They implements safety signs poles such as 30 kilometers,slow down ahead,Zebra crossing and stop  , these done  varios areas  near schools.
